What does a parent want in a school?

Picture
What is it that you want for your child? What are you looking for in a primary school?

These are really important questions all parents need to ask themselves in order to get the best possible fit for their children.

Are you looking for a school that offers more than the same old same old? If so perhaps you should read more….

Are you searching for a progressive school that supports all students in their learning, no matter what their starting levels or ability? Is your ideal school one which has fantastic teachers who are passionate about their work and prepared to do whatever it takes to help every child achieve to their maximum potential?

Is it important for you to know that a school has a very obvious emphasis on the teaching of English and Mathematics?

Are you passionate about your child learning in an environment where they are encouraged to think for themselves and have a greater involvement in their own learning? Is your ideal school one which has a very obvious emphasis on developing social skills and positive relationships and is aware of the powerful connection a child’s emotional state has to positive learning experiences and their engagement with the curriculum?

Does a school which has a focus on “inquiry” and science interest you and would it ignite a passion for discovery in your child?  Are you searching for a setting that is recognised for their innovation in inquiry learning, a school with a philosophy that nurtures student autonomy and personal responsibility for choices and behaviours?

Would you be surprised to learn that a small local school in Glenroy is recognised as a world leader in Self Organised Learning Environments (S.O.L.E.) and has an ongoing partnership with the University of Newcastle in the U.K.?

Is it important for you to know that your child’s school is innovative and responsive to the needs of 21st century students?

Perhaps you are searching for a school that is focused on formative and diagnostic assessment data and that the teachers use data to target explicit and personalised teaching opportunities.

Many parents feel it is important that a school has a very strong philosophy of utilising ICT to support learning. Do you want your child to be introduced to coding and programming or learn how to make their own video animation and doco's in our green screen room? Perhaps you are interested in the Arts... your child can join our free "Just Brass" band from years 3-6.

All parents want a school where they know their child will be safe, happy, engaged and will make friends. All parents want their child to be nurtured, supported and encouraged.

At Belle Vue Park Primary School you will be pleasantly surprised….come and see for yourself…check us out…it’s not what you might think!
