Classroom Structure
Our school implements a flexible process in establishing our classroom structure.
We take into account the numbers of students in each year level and the skill sets of our staff. We consider friendship groups and family preferences when establishing classes. We also spend considerable time each year discussing the best possible grouping for our students, taking into account their current academic level, friendship groups, emotional and social development. All these factors are considered to help inform our decision which is the most appropriate class for each student.
Our teachers spend a great deal of time in the process.
Generally students are in straight classes or composite classes across two year levels.
We use student data to form flexible learning groups in our teaching teams. We target the learning tasks to the level which the child is currently at and we build their learning from there.
