Absences
Attendance at school is compulsory. Attendances are recorded twice daily. Parents need to inform the school by letter or verbally about their children’s absences.
Assembly
Whole school assembly is held Monday and Wednesday mornings at 9:00AM. All parents and friends are welcome. The assembly has special awards for the children Achievement awards from our You Can Do It foundations, Sports results etc. Important information about the daily events of the school are also discussed at assembly
Booklists
School Council has approved a booklist charge of $80 for 2006. This includes the costs of all books, stationary items etc Parents who are eligible can use their EMA cards to pay for the books.
Camps and Excursions
Excursions are an integral and essential part of the school program and may be offered from years Prep to 6. Grade Five/Six children undertake school camp each year to Canberra on 13th to 17th of November.
Canteen
Belle Vue Park Primary School has a canteen that operates on each Monday/Wednesday/Friday at recess and lunchtime. Canteen lists can be obtained from the school office.
Emergency Procedures
Belle Vue Park Primary School has an emergency evacuation plan in the event of any situation out of the normal running of the school day. These Emergency procedures are practices each term.
Lunch / Play lunch arrangements
Children eat lunches in their classrooms from 1:20 PM – 1:30PM.
Newsletters
Newsletters are sent home fortnightly on a Thursday. Additional copies can be obtained from the office.
Parent Participation
Parents are encouraged to assist with a variety of school activities. (Arrangements can be made through the office. Toddlers and small children are not allowed to be in the classroom when parents are assisting as this can cause a distraction to the other children).
Parent and Teacher Communication
It is important that teachers and parents communicate concerning children’s progress. Formal interviews are arranged during the year. Teachers are happy to talk to parents informally at any time throughout the year. Written reports are sent home twice a year for all students. Children maintain a learning portfolio which is used as the basis of the student led conferences when reporting children’s progress to parents mid year.
Playground Supervision
Playground supervision by teachers begins at 8.45 am before school, and from 3.15 pm – 3.30 pm after school. Two teachers are on duty at recess and lunch time.
School Council
This body meets 8 times per year and plays an important part in the overall planning and administration of the school (Refer to Systems view for additional information on School Council).
School Uniform
Belle Vue Park has an official uniform. It is compulsory for students to wear the uniform which is burgundy and black.
Transition
Pre school transition and secondary transition programs operate throughout the school year to help pre school children and Year 6 students in their transition from one setting to another.
Treatment of sick or injured children
If children are sick or injured at school we endeavour to take the best possible care. We have a well equipped sick bay in the administration building. We have a level 3 First Aid staff member who is in charge of the sick bay on a full time basis.
